AGAINST Unfit McCain

Eight reasons why you shouldn't support Senator McCain

Special Feature:  The Lies of Sarah Palin

"I opposed Alaska's Bridge to Nowhere."  In reality, Palin campaigned hard for the bridge
when she first ran for governor (less than two years ago).  Later, she kept the earmarked money
and spent some of it on
a road leading to the nonexistent structure.

"I will go to war with Russia in defense of Georgia."  Said during Charlie Gibson intervew
on September 11, 2008.   Palin has to be lying.  Or else, she's talking about the "Georgia" north of
Florida.  Otherwise, with that attitide and her acting as president, we will see Armageddon sooner
than kater.

"I was against federal earmark funds."   Gov. Palin sought nearly $200 million in federal
earmark money for Alaska.  Also, her special funding projects in 2009  are the highest per capita
amount in the nation.

"My husband and I will cooperate with the (Troopergate) investigation."  On Sep. 18.
2008, Palin's "Mr. Dude" hubby, Todd, ignored a state government subpoena against him and
refused to testify.

and ask them to do the same while we still have freedom of speech.

Eight reasons for voting against Unfit McCain:

1.  He will continue President Bush's belligerent foreign policy
which led to the unjustified Iraq War that has killed more
than 4,000 American military personnel and 100,000 Iraqi
civilians, decimated our armed forces and added billions to
     the national debt.

2.  McCain has endorsed the failed Bush economic policies that
are destroying the middleclass, causing jobs to go overseas,
pushing homeowners into foreclosure and endangering the
future of our offspring for decades to come.

3.  McCain is America's "Number One Neocon" with direct ties
to Bill Kristol's rightwing extremist organization, Project for
a New American Century (PNAC), which promoted regime
change in Iraq before 9/11 and proposed dominating the
      world with U.S. military power.

4.  During the 2008 campaign, McCain showed he lacked the
necessary integrity to be commander-in-chief by flip-flopping

on major issues -- most grievously about IRS income tax rates.

Once opposed to Bush 43's tax cuts, which he called unfair, McCain now believes the
top 1% of American wage earners deserve a $32,000 reduction while the bottom 20%
should only get back a miniscule $21.

5.  He promised in February 2008 not run a negative campaign.  Then, five months later,
rather than discuss important issues like global warming, high energy prices and rising
unemployment, McCain unleashed  a scurrilous, Karl Rove-style attack on Barack
Obama's character, such as  calling him "elitist" and "arrogant" -- easily understood
code-words for "uppity"  with racial overtones.   A more obvious indication of McCain's
underhanded tactics is his constant claim in television ads that Obama will raise taxes
on working Americans, which is simply not true.

6.  McCain distorted his so-called heroic POW record and exploited it for political gain.

7.  If
McCain wins in November, the neocons in Washington will increase their power,
     Bush's
incompetent cronies will remain in office, our nation will become more divided,
we will never know how many White House crimes were committed over the past eight
years, and U.S. armed forces will attack Iran.

8.  Finally, Senator McCain's first important decision as a presidential candidate showed
bad judgment on his part by selecting Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as a  "one heartbeat
      away" commander-in-chief.

ADDENDUM:  On Wednesday evening, September 3, 2008, Sarah Palin demonstrated
what an inept leader she would be during her GOP convention acceptance speech.

Speaking to national TV audience, Palin bragged about being a "hockey mom."  Then, in
nearly the same breath, she mocked Sen. Obama's experience as a community organizer
on the South Side of Chicago where he worked with men and women who had lost jobs
and been left behind when the local steel plants closed.

Retorted the outraged Democratic National Committee, "Community organizing is how
ordinary people respond to out-of-touch politicians and their failed policies."

Here is a response that's more to the point.  Any politician who believes driving kids around
in a SUV is more important than helping disadvantaged persons and poor people in urban
ghettos should never hold public office -- national, state or local.

Hail to the "one heartbeat away" commander-in-chief.  So
much for national security and foreign affairs experience!

Because Senator McCain preaches one thing ("I want a vice president who is ready to be
commander-in-chief on day one!") and does just the opposite by picking unqualified
Sarah Palin instead, it should be obvious by now to most Americans that "hypocrisy" has
become the Republican Party's marquee hallmark.

Consider Cindy McCain who claims to support programs that inhibit teenage and young
adult drinking.  In a prime example of GOP hypocrisy, she owns the Hensley company,
a national liquor dealer that
holds federal and state licenses to distribute beer and lobbies
regulatory agencies on alcohol issues involving health and safety.

Booze dealer Cindy McCain

As reported by the Los Angeles Times on June 23, 2008, Cindy McCain's booze-dealing
Hensley Co. opposed public safety groups such as Mothers Against Drunk Driving
(MADD) in fighting proposed federal rules that would require alcohol-content information
on every package of beer, wine and liquor.

To advance their cause, He
nsley executives, including John McCain's son, Andrew, have
written at least 10 letters to the Treasury Department and contributed tens of thousands of
dollars to alcohol industry lobbyists.

A member of the powerful National Beer Wholesalers Association, Cindy's
company has
run afoul of health-advocacy groups that have tried to rein in appeals to young drinkers.

Hensley, for example, distributes fruit-flavored alcohol drinks [nicknamed "alcopops"]
that public-health groups say put young and underage consumers at risk by disguising the
effects of intoxication.

Cindy McCain is chairwoman of Hensley and controls 68 percent of the privately-held
company stock, along with her children and the senator's son from his first marriage.  The
family keeps their finances separate, and John McCain claims to have no interest or role
in Hensley.  According to the L.A. Times, should he
become president and his wife retains
her ownership in Hensley, she would set a precedent for outside corporate activity by a
first lady.

After the Hensley article came out, the McCain campaign team issued a terse statement
saying,  "Any decisions going forward will be made when the senator wins the election and
takes office, but not before."

Political analysts said they were astounded that McCain has not addressed the issue.  "You
can't run a beer company out of the White House," commented Samuel Popkin, a political-
science professor at the University of California in San Diego.  "McCain is leaving a live
hand grenade on the table -- a major embarrassment [for his future administration]."
